Building the Foundation: Anita Staton’s 2019 Turner School of Construction Management Graduation

July 12, 2019

Miles Enterprise Solutions

A milestone in leadership, learning, and the continued growth of Miles Enterprise Solutions

July 12, 2019 marked a meaningful professional milestone for Anita Staton, founder and CEO of Miles Enterprise Solutions, as she celebrated her graduation from the Turner School of Construction Management (TSCM).

For Anita, the experience represented more than completing a professional development program. It was an opportunity to deepen her understanding of the construction and business environment, learn from industry professionals, build relationships, and strengthen the knowledge that would continue to inform her approach to building and growing a business.

Established by Turner Construction in 1969, the Turner School of Construction Management was created as a community-focused program designed to help small and underrepresented businesses strengthen their technical, administrative, and managerial capabilities while creating pathways to opportunity within the construction industry.

Learning That Builds Beyond the Classroom

TSCM's curriculum addresses practical areas of construction and business management, including safety, risk management, estimating, financial literacy, project management, procurement, and other disciplines essential to successfully navigating the construction industry.

For Anita, participating in a program with this focus aligned with an important principle that continues to shape Miles today: growth requires a willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously build new capabilities.

The lessons gained through experiences like TSCM become part of a larger leadership journey—one that extends beyond a certificate or graduation ceremony and into the decisions, relationships, and opportunities that follow.

A Foundation for What Came Next

In 2019, Miles was continuing to develop its identity and capabilities as a technology and consulting business. North Carolina records show Miles Enterprise Solutions was formally registered as an assumed business name in January 2019, building upon Miles Technology Solutions, LLC.

That makes the July 2019 graduation particularly meaningful when viewed through the company's history.

It was a moment of learning during a period of growth.

Today, Miles Enterprise Solutions operates as a management consulting and technology services firm, with Anita Staton serving as CEO.

The company's work has expanded across technology, consulting, workforce development, and public-sector services. The organization's evolution reflects the importance of continuously investing in knowledge, relationships, and new capabilities.

Looking Back to Move Forward

Milestones like Anita's 2019 TSCM graduation are part of the story behind Miles—not simply as moments to remember, but as reminders of the values that continue to shape the organization.

Learn. Build. Lead.

Those principles remain relevant as Miles continues to help organizations navigate technology, modernization, workforce development, and operational challenges.

The photograph from July 12, 2019 captures one moment in that journey. But the significance of the moment extends beyond the graduation ceremony itself.

It represents a commitment to learning, a willingness to invest in growth, and the belief that strong organizations are built on strong foundations.

Seven years later, that foundation continues to be part of the Miles story.
